U is for Eggs Under the Windows

About an hour ago I went out to check for eggs, and when I got into the barn I saw this naughty girl coming out from behind some windows that we are eventually going to use for a greenhouse.

So I looked behind the windows and this is what I found.. Some naughty hens have been laying eggs for a couple of weeks without telling me! I looked in this exact spot about 2 weeks ago and there was nothing there!

Those naughty girls! I have not tested to see if they are bad yet and they most likely aren't, but I will still check just to make sure!

To test if eggs are bad just get a big cup and fill it with water, wait for the egg to settle. If the egg floats it is bad, if it stays nice and steady on the bottom, then it is not!

I took all the eggs out except for two so they will hopefully keep laying there!

When I went to check for other eggs I saw
Lady sitting on one of the normal nests. Hopefully she teaches the other hens a lesson on how to lay eggs in the normal spots, but that wouldn't be any fun would it?

Oh I envy you. I love fresh eggs, they are nothing like what you can get in the market!

I know that trick for telling if eggs are good or bad, and believe me, I use it whenever I buy eggs at the store! One cannot be too careful about eggs!!

Thank you for telling us that trick! Beautiful image of the nest and those gorgeously arranged eggs...the colors are only as Mother Nature can achieve.

AWWWK! I've eaten BAD, floating eggs before! Maybe boiling them kills the bad stuff cause I'm still here.... I'll pick out the floaters from now on, thank the hens for me:)

I am so happy to know this test for whether eggs have gone bad. I'll bet I've thrown some out before their time just to be safe.
