Second Annual Hen House Hop!

It is time for the Second Annual Hen House Hop!

Where you can share everything about your girls and their pens or fancy houses!

I have Black Australorps and Ameraucanas. 

All of my roosters (6) and Little Hens (4) are Black Australorp, Ameraucana mixes. The Little Hens all lay Green eggs.

This is Buffalo, yes I named a chicken Buffalo.. She will be 4 years old in a month or so. She is a full Ameraucana.

The black one in the back is Alanna, and the silver one in the front is Mythril, they are both 4 years old.

And yes, I do know every single one of my chickens by name, even the ones who look identical!

The one on the left is Whisper because she almost never makes any noise whatsoever, she will be a year old June 11, and the one on the right is...well she doesn't really have a name but I call her Beaty because she is always the most beat up. She will be 5 years old in about a month.

This is Henny Penny, she is a whopping 9 years old. No she doesn't lay eggs anymore but what am I supposed to do, get rid of her? I don't think so...

And of course my princess Cleo (short for Cleopatra). She will be a year old in late June. I would say she is my favorite hen (please don't tell the others!) because she talks a bunch and is the smallest and cutest. I just love her little beard, don't you?

And i just had to put a picture of Speckles the rooster who speaks Chicken German and looks older but won't be a year old until June 11!

I wasn't able to get pictures of ALL of my chickens but if you would like to see them all click HERE for the little chicks, HERE for all of the hens, and HERE for the roosters (and to bad for the roosters, but all but 3 of them are going to be sold soon..).

Total I have 16 hens about 10 of them lay eggs some just don't, some are too old and the others lay wonderful eggs!

And 7 roosters, one of the roosters is younger then the others and doesn't do what roosters are "supposed" to do yet, and I have never counted him as a rooster but he is, in fact a rooster.

Blanco, hopefully he starts doing what he is supposed to do soon!

This is the pen where they all go at night, nothing fancy (though that might have to change..) but they seem to like it just fine!

And I have "renovation" plans in mind.

And of course I can't forget the door!

I keep the door in place by hooking ropes on nails.

Now its time for the nest boxes/areas!

There are 2 nests here. The buckets are there because the hens don't like to see each other while they are laying eggs. If they have the choice to lay in either one they lay in the one on the far left but if that one is taken then they lay in the one on the right.

Or they just lay in the old rabbit hutch!

Or in the old pen we made years ago!

Or if they are extra naughty they will lay back in hidden spots like this!

So, when Deborah said we could share "lots and lots of pictures", I would say I have taken her up on that!
