L is for Lobacca

This is Lobacca she is 4 years old.
My brother is a big fan of Star Wars and we already had a chicken named Chewbacca
so we named her Lobacca.
Yesterday she was enjoying the last bits of sunlight since today..it snowed a bunch again!
She is a Amerucana, some people call them Easter Egg Chickens because
they lay green, blue and pinkish eggs.
She was hatched here on the farm and I have trained her to jump up on my arm when I have corn or a piece of bread.

Great pics! We have an Americauna that looks quite similar - her name is Natasha. She's a sweet but shy chicken.

Thanks for linking up with Rural Thursday!

I would have but they don't lay eggs here in winter :(

Oh your post was sweet! I was not raised in the country but the city. My husband spent all his summers growing up on his grandparents farm. But I have some dear farmer friends and I always enjoy reading about all the farm life. This is such a beautiful creature. Thank you for sharing and I hope you visit me sometime too. I so enjoy the Alphabe Thursday crowd! Enjoy your weekend! Anne

I'm just catching up with the Rural Thursday later posts, and I was so happy to see your chicken photos. My sister-in-law has been sharing some pale green eggs with us, and now I know where they came from!

Love it! Our hens lay green and blue eggs too! They follow my oldest son around like he is the "big red rooster" ;)

My daughter so wishes she could have a pet chicken, and two cows, and a pig. Sadly our yard is not quite big enough to be a farmyard. Maybe she will grow up to have her own.

I live in the city, but I grew up in rural West Virginia. My grandparents had a small farm, which naturally had chickens. I couldn't tell you what they had, but I'm certain they were common types. We love to chase the baby chicks around their yard. Try as we may we could never catch one. They were so adorable with all their soft downy yellow feathers and making those little peep sounds. Thanks for telling us about Labocca!
